Slip & Fall
Accidents

Helping you after a slip or fall.

Slip and Fall Hero.jpg

A fall can happen anywhere — a sidewalk, parking lot, store, apartment building, or private property. What seems like a simple accident can quickly turn into serious injuries, medical treatment and time away from work.

If your fall was caused by unsafe property conditions, you may be entitled to compensation. We help you determine who is responsible and protect your legal rights.

Why Slip and Falls Happen

Many falls are preventable and occur because hazards were not fixed or properly warned about, including:

  • Broken pavement or uneven walkways

  • Wet or slippery floors

  • Loose carpeting or flooring

  • Snow and ice accumulation

  • Poor lighting

  • Missing warning signs

Injuries can range from soft tissue damage to fractures, head injuries and long-term disability.

The Property Owner’s Responsibility

Under Ontario law, property owners, landlords and businesses must take reasonable steps to keep visitors safe.

If they failed to maintain safe conditions or warn you about a danger, they may be responsible for:

  • Medical expenses

  • Lost income

  • Pain and suffering

Important 10-Day Notice Rule (Municipal Property)

If your fall happened on municipal property — such as a sidewalk, road, curb or public space — you must give written notice within 10 days of the accident.

The notice must include:

  • Your name and contact information

  • Date and time of the incident

  • Exact location of the fall

Missing this deadline can affect your claim, that is why getting advice quickly is important.
